How-To?Hologram
A hologram is a complete three-dimensional image of an object on a flat surface. 2D images are projected in 3D, making it possible to view the image from different angles. Does that sound exciting? In this How-To? station, you’ll discover how it works. You can make a hologram of yourself, using a pyramid you’ll construct yourself which you can take home with you afterwards.

Alex Prooper has over 30 years of experience in developing software for a wide variety of computer systems. He approaches art differently than most other artists working with computers. For Alex, the computer is a unique medium, a device with awesome raw power, ideally suited to participate completely new things. It’s the ultimate way to make processes or visible or audible. His quest is to come up with these processes, the making of software to carry out these processes, and then to feed the built system with data.

Pong Invaders Reality
With Pong Invaders Reality, the gamers continue to defend the world against the alien invasion that started with the classic Space Invaders video game back in 1978. This mixed reality installation uses motion tracking and a projection screen, creating an immersive combination of physical table tennis as an interface for a video game.
Tobias Othmar Hermann, the maker of Pong Invaders Reality, is a cross media artist located in Berlin, Germany. He is a resident at Creative Gaming Initiative Hamburg and Game Science Center Berlin. Pong Invaders Reality has been shown at major electronic arts exhibitions in Germany and across Europe. Johann Sebastian Joust
Douglas Wilson’s Johann Sebastian Joust is a physical, music-enabled playground game for motion controllers. Jostle your opponents’ controllers while protecting your own! The goal is to be the last player remaining. When the music — J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos — plays in slow motion, the controllers are very sensitive to movement. When the music speeds up, the threshold becomes less strict, giving the players a small window to dash at their opponents. If your controller is ever moved beyond the allowable threshold, you’re out! This game was selected for us by House of Indie and will be played in a Panna Field to make it extra exciting.
The House of Indie is an indie game collective from Antwerp, Belgium, committed to curating, nurturing & solidifying local and international indie culture.
Wonder Table
The Wonder Table is an interactive installation that turns shadow play, the classical theatre art form, interactive. With the help of so-called fiducials, little black-and-white squares that are recognized by a webcam, the play comes to life. These fiducials activate an element in the shadow play. By bringing different elements together, the players can create their own stories.
Sebastiaan Hensen graduated from the HKU University of the Arts Utrecht in 2015. He is currently developing interactive installations and experiences, with the focus on physical interaction, which he turns into digital output. Puppetry is an important source of inspiration to him. He finds it interesting to let physical objects come to life in a surprising way. He does this by transforming everyday actions into digital interaction. Because this makes the interaction feel more natural, the visitors can immerse themselves in the experience.

How-To?Shadows
Turn your body into an actual shadow puppet. Convert yourself from 3D to 2D! Shadow play is one of the oldest types of theatre in the world. It started in Asia, around 100 BC. One of the pioneers of animated film, Lotte Reiniger, used a lightbox with cut-out figurines to make her “shadow movies”. She used ‘cut-out animation’, allowing the figurines to come to life through stopmotion.

How-To?Stop-Motion
Bring the figures to life in a self-made animation. Choose your own little figures, make up an adventurous story and get to work with the iPad. With the wonderful technique of stop-motion, you magically transform the images into a playful film. The technique is almost as old as the art of filming itself and was one of the first special effects techniques in the film industry, before the arrival of digital animation.
