Awards

The jury of professionals, the children’s jury in Antwerp and the children’s jury in Bruges will select the best feature film and best short film of 2008. The jury of professionals will present a distribution award to the best feature film. This film will be distributed by Jekino Distribution. Finally, the audience will have the opportunity to vote for and select the best feature film. The winning film receives an honourable mention.

Anna Svensson

(1972)
Anna Svensson works for SVT (Swedish Television) and as a film programmer at Umeå International Film Festival. She is a member of the jury which presents the Swedish Guldbagge Award. During the last few years, she has been engaged in film education for children. She often writes film reviews.

Pol Pauwels

(1964)
Pol Pauwels is an actor, he studied at the Antwerp Conservatory.
He worked as an actor for several theatre companies under the direction of Ivo Van Hove, Dora van der Groen, Enrique Vargas etc.
In his current productions, he is experimenting with multimedia and technical equipment. Pol Pauwels teaches drama to children

Hans Herbots

(1970)
Hans Herbots is a director.
His first English spoken feature film was ‘Falling’, featuring Koen De Bouw, Alice Krige en Jill Clayburgh.
In 2005 he made ‘Verlengd Weekend’ featuring Jan Decleir, Wouter Hendrickx and again Koen De Bouw.
In October 2006 his third film ‘Windkracht 10’ was released, featuring Veerle Baetens and Kevin Janssens.
He is planning to direct a movie based on the trilogy ‘Monstertrilogie’ by Tom Lanoye.

Hilde Kjos

(1971)
Hilde Kjos is a film critic.
For the last four years, she has been working as a film consultant for the Norwegian Federation of Film Societies (NFK), the umbrella organization of Norwegian film clubs. Here, she takes special interest in organizing film societies for children and young people in Norway. She is responsible for importing films and for distributing them to film societies.

Ksenia Koltsova

Koltsova Ksenia, Coordinator of international relations, International film festival of family and children films “Faithful heart”, Russia.
For the last few years, Koltsova has been working for International film festivals in Russia as a coordinator of international projects and special events for European festivals. In 2005, she became a team member of the International film festival of family and children films “Faithful heart” in Russia. She is currently working on a special exchange programme with European festivals in order to introduce European cinema to the Russian audience.

Wouter Hendrickx

(1975)
Wouter Hendrickx is an actor. He finished his drama studies at Studio Herman Teirlinck in 1997. From then on he starred in theatre productions of the following companies; De Roovers, LAMPE, Het Paleis, Het Toneelhuis… He starred in the television series Witse and in a satirical programme called ‘Kijk Eens Op De Doos’. Hendrickx acted in a few shorts as well as in two feature films directed by Hans Herbots, ‘Falling’ (2001) and ‘Verlengd Weekend’ (2005).

I think it will be fun to serve on a juryand to give my opinion on movies: which movies are funny and exciting. 'Is this a true story?' Sometimes, I feel a bit sad but if something funny happens, I feel happy again. You feel so many emotions when you watch a nice movie!

I would like to serve on the jury because I love watching movies. I love reading the book first and then watching the movie. I think it will be nice to see so many movies. Movies allow you to escape into another world. Time flies when you are watching a movie.

Wiske Luyckx

11 years old - Berchem
I would like to serve on the film children's jury because I love watching movies. Movies are very interesting, I think. Sometimes I do not agree with film reviews at all. As a member of the festival jury, I can give my own opinion. I am really excited about it.

Casper Lie

I would like to serve on the jury because I love watching television programmes in which jury members give their opinion. Now, I have the opportunity to do so. I also love watching movies with my friends during the holidays.

I love watching movies. Watching two movies on one day is something very special. In movies, many things happen which are not possible in real live. It is very exciting and I can pretend to be part of it.

My hobbies are playing the flute, playing the piano, music education and especially dancing. But I also love swimming, practising sports etc...I am happy to be a jury member because I loooooooove watching foreign movies as I travel a lot. It will be fun to have a chat after the movie. I hope it will be a nice experience. I also hope that many people will visit the festival and that the movies will be beautiful.

Elya Delanote

11 years old - Poperinge
I play tennis and I practise many other sports. I also like drawing, tinkering, reading books, watching television, chatting and playing chess, spending time with friends. I would like to serve on the jury because I love watching movies and as a jury member I can give my opinion on movies. I think many people will visit the festival. I think it will be fun.

Aaron Strubbe

9 years old - Oostkamp
My friends call me Aaronski. I am a sports freak and I really like skiing. I always visit the festival during spring half-term and watch as many festival movies as possible. I am very happy to be a jury member as I will learn how to express my opinion on movies and I will be given the opportunity to vote for my favourite festival movie. The movies will be beautiful, I think. I am looking forward to meeting my fellow jury members.

My hobbies are judo, playing chess and reading. I would like to be a jury member because it will be a unique experience and you get the opportunity to watch 10 movies for free. It will also be fun to talk about the festival movies with other jury members.
